ALL CLEAR Signal: [SM gives 'thumbs-up']
IN ANY EMERGENCY: BAND LOOKS TO STAGE MANAGER FOR CUES.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY (CROWD)
- Spotter (any crew): Radio [1: Production] with location of incident.
- TM/PM: Informs Venue Security & Medical.
- FOH Engineer: Brings up house lights in affected area if directed.
- SM: Assesses if show needs to be paused. If so, gives [SHOW STOP Signal].
- Band: If show stops, be ready for SM cue to resume.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY (BAND / CREW)
- Immediate Action: Closest person gives [SHOW STOP Signal] to SM.
- SM: Confirms & relays signal to band. Radios for medical.
- Band: Stop playing, await instructions from SM. Exit stage if directed.
- TM/PM: Coordinates with medical team.
- FOH Engineer: Play house music. Await "All Clear".
POWER FAILURE (STAGE or VENUE)
- Band: Stop playing. Stay in position if safe. Await instructions.
- SM: Assess situation. Use flashlight/runners for communication.
- FOH/LD: Switch to backup power if available. Communicate status to PM/TM.
- TM/PM: Liaise with venue. Decide whether to continue or cancel show.
- FOH Engineer: If show is stopped, make announcement if PA is on emergency power.
SECURITY BREACH (UNAUTHORIZED PERSON ON STAGE)
- Immediate Action: [SHOW STOP Signal] given by SM or security.
- Tour Security: Intercept and remove individual. Radio on [2: Security].
- Band: Stop playing. Create distance. Follow SM directions to exit if necessary.
- TM: Liaise with Venue Security. Decide on pressing charges.
- SM: Await "All Clear" from security before resuming.
SECURITY BREACH (FIGHT IN CROWD)
- Spotter: Radio [2: Security] with location.
- Tour/Venue Security: Respond to incident.
- TM/PM: Assess if show needs to stop. Advise SM.
- FOH Engineer: Bring up house lights in area if directed.
- Band: Continue playing unless given [SHOW STOP Signal].
FIRE / PYROTECHNIC MALFUNCTION
- Immediate Action: [SHOW STOP Signal].
- Crew: Use fire extinguishers if trained and safe to do so.
- SM: Direct band to exit stage immediately.
- TM/PM: Call 911. Liaise with Venue Manager to initiate venue fire plan.
- FOH Engineer: Bring up ALL house lights. Make evacuation announcement if directed.
SEVERE WEATHER (OUTDOOR SHOW)
- TM/PM: Monitor weather radar. Make the call to pause or evacuate based on local regulations and safety.
- If Pausing: SM gives [SHOW STOP Signal]. Band exits stage.
- If Evacuating: FOH Engineer makes pre-scripted announcement.
- LD: Bring up house lights.
- All Crew: Secure stage equipment as per weather plan.
CRITICAL EQUIPMENT FAILURE (Show Stopping)
- Department Head (e.g., Audio, Video): Informs SM of issue and estimated fix time.
- SM: Gives [SHOW STOP Signal] to band and communicates issue.
- Band: Stall for time if possible (e.g., talk to crowd) or exit stage if directed.
- TM/PM: Informed of downtime.
- FOH Engineer: Play house music if show is fully stopped.
VENUE EVACUATION (FOR ANY REASON)
- Decision: Made by TM/PM in conjunction with Venue Management.
- SM: Gives [SHOW STOP Signal]. Directs band/crew to secure exit.
- FOH Engineer: Bring up ALL house lights. Make pre-scripted evacuation announcement.
- Band & Crew: Proceed to designated safe muster point.
- TM/PM: Account for all personnel at muster point.
ACTIVE THREAT (RUN. HIDE. FIGHT.)
- Immediate Action: Anyone identifying threat yells "GUN!" or "SHOTS FIRED!". Do NOT use code words.
- All Personnel: Evacuate immediately if a safe path exists. Do not wait for direction. Get as far away as possible.
- If Evacuation is not possible: Hide in a secure location. Lock/barricade doors. Silence phones.
- Last Resort: Fight back. Act with physical aggression. Improvise weapons.
- Communication: Only communicate with 911 when it is safe to do so.
